The EOS 1Ds was a large, professionally-oriented DSLR introduced by Canon in 2002. Historically this is a significant camera, being the first successful digital SLR based around a 24x36mm (a..k.a "full frame") sensor chip. The full-frame Contax N Digital appeared earlier; but its problems drove Contax from the DSLR market entirely.

The eleven-megapixel resolution of the 1Ds was considered quite groundbreaking in its day. The ISO range has been reduced compared to the cropped sensor version, it is from 100 to 1250 ISO in most modes, but an ISO 50 can be used in custom functions. It is the same for the shutter speed, with fastest at 1/8,000 of a sec and the flash sync at 1/250 while the 1D has 1/1600 shutter and with 1/500 for flash sync. It has playback zoom function that the 1D lack. The 1Ds shares the integral bottom grip, rugged build, and full weather-sealing with the EOS-1D which preceded it. It was replace by the EOS-1Ds Mark II in 2004.
