The EOS 1Ds was a large, professionally-oriented DSLR introduced by Canon in 2002. Historically this is a significant camera, being the first successful digital SLR based around a 24x36mm (a..k.a "full frame") sensor chip. The full-frame Contax N Digital appeared earlier; but its problems drove Contax from the DSLR market entirely.
The eleven-megapixel resolution of the 1Ds was considered quite groundbreaking in its day. The 1Ds shares the integral bottom grip, rugged build, and full weather-sealing with the EOS 1D which preceded it.
