Reid & Sigrist

Reid & Sigrist was a British manufacturer who made Leica-style cameras during 1950s and early 1960s. After World War II the British took plans for camera design from the E. Leitz factory in Germany. Reid and Sigrist, who were an engineering company and had made aeroplane parts during the war, took on manufacture of a camera based on these plans.

They produced the Reid III camera, which was a copy of the Leica IIIb. Its normal lens is a collapsible 2-inch f/2 Taylor-Hobson Anastigmat. A Reid I was also made, being a simplified version with no rangefinder (or superstructure for one - just a galilean viewfinder) and no slow speeds, though the speed selector has the '20-1' position. At least one example of the Reid II exists as well, but it was not made in quantity. It is a rangefinder camera like the III but without slow speeds.
