The Canon EOS 20D is a digital SLR camera. It was released in 2004. In 2005, variation of the 20D was also available for astronomical photography called Canon EOS 20Da

It succeeded over the EOS 10D released a year earlier. To compare, it has an 8.2-megapixel sensor to the 10D's 6.3-megapixel. With a faster shutter of 1/8000 vs 1/4000, along with 5fps vs 3fps of the predecessor. Flash sync has also been increased slightly to 1/250. The body uses a EF-S lens mount system. This reduces the size of the mirror along with the rest of the body. Power on time has also been improved, able to power up in under half a second. The back features a 1.8" TFT color LCD screen. Introduced in the model is a 9 point auto focus system. Along with JPEG, it is capable of capturing in RAW and RAW + JPEG. The image processor has been changed to the DIGIC II previously available on the EOS-1D Mark II. The i/o ports have been updated to support USB 2 along with Pictbridge printing support. Images are captured on CompactFlash Type I or II media.

Issues

Firmware Update v2.0.0 This firmware update incorporates support for the wireless file transmitter WFT-E1.
Firmware Update v1.1.0 This update adds three new languages to the camera menus: traditional Chinese, Korean and Russian. The new firmware also fixes the problem of horizontal line noise in images shot at high ISO settings while using the built-in flash.
Firmware Update v1.0.5 This update fixes the lock-up problem that some users were experiencing. Note that this update also addresses the bug which caused Update v1.0.4 to kill some cameras.
