The Pentax K2DMD was a slightly-improved version of the K2 flagship model [shown] of the camera trio Pentax introduced in one year later in 1976. It featured the same K lens mount of the K2. The others included the KX, the KM, and the Pentax K1000.

The most obvious addition to the K2DMD was motor drive capability. However, the manual lists the following as additional features of the K2DMD:

1. Aperture read-out
2. Exposure compensation warning
3. Built-in eyepiece blind
4. Low battery warning
5. Photo memory lock
6. Extended photo memory
7. Split-microprism focusing screen
8. Interchangeable backs
