Fotoimpex of Berlin, Germany was founded in 1992. It's aim was to import and distribute Eastern European (Fotokemika and Foma) photographic products within Germany. They started distributing many products during the unification of Germany and collapse of the wall, as the original distribution methods of manufactured goods from former communist countries was no longer suitable. Fotoimpex is also a distributor of film and darkroom material, including film of some lesser known brands, and it is the main German vendor of Holga cameras. Brands distributed included Bergger, Forte, Foma, Fuji, Jobo, Kentmere, Kodak and Maco.

In 2001, they became the owner and international distributor of the Adox film brand. The Adox Art series films are made by Fotokemika in Croatia. This reunited the Adox brand to the film emulsion. After the bankruptcy of AgfaPhoto in 2005, they worked with the former manufactures and continued to distribute many of Agfa's old photo chemistry and paper products under new branding. In 2007, Forte announced their exit from the photosensitive material business, they decided to acquire and relocate Forte's paper manufacturing line. In 2008, through liquidation, was able to acquire the use of two former Agfa production lines.[1] The paper and film lines were relocated and unified to a single location in Leverkusen, Germany. [2] While a majority of their current film is made by Fotokemika, they are currently (2012) expanding their film emulsion factory in Bad Saarow, Germany.[3] Their goal is to manufacture Forte polywarmtone paper in their new factory,[4] as well as produce 110 cartridge format film.[5]

The Adocolor cartridges are the last available type No. 126 film cassettes of the world.
