The Sun is a Japanese 6.5×9cm plate folder about which almost nothing is known. It is only reported in an article by Yazawa, where it is described as similar to the Need plate folder, and perhaps made by the same company. The article shows a Steinheil Anastigmat Trionar 105mm f/6.3 and dial-set Elka (25, 50, 100, B, T), reportedly coming from the Sun.[1] The shutter has a simple "needle" self-timer; the name ELKA is inscribed on the speed dial, and the initials T.B.C.T. are inscribed underside in small capital letters.

The Sun brand was used from 1935 to 1937 by Yamashita Yūjirō Shōten on the Sun Stereo, and the Sun plate folder was perhaps sold by Yamashita as well. The name has certainly nothing to see with the postwar optical company Sun Kōki.
