Origins

A post-war continuation of the Reflecta by VEB Welta-Kamerawerk, a merger of Welta and Richter-Tharandt Kamerawerk. The latter company had produced the pre-war Reflecta. After the war, Reflekta was spelled with a k.

Description and specs

Focusing is done by a lever under the taking lens. The framecounter is a small red window on the back of the camera. The viewfinder is rather dim. Three possible 75/3.5 lenses are reported; Triotar, Trioplan and Meritar. All of them made by L.Meyer in Goerlitz. Similarly, three different shutters are known on this camera; Cludor (B, 1 - 1/200s), Junior or Vebur.

Variations

An export version of the Reflekta II was sold in the USA under the Wirgin label. Welta was an East-German company that probably could not export directly to the states.
