There is much work to do here. Comments appreciated. I have notes on the chemistry of these cells and options for camera users. The chemistry notes will take some time. The options are more straight forward. Various options: use mercury 625 cells; recharge mercury cells; use non-mercury 625 cells with 1.5 V nominal voltage and adjust the ISO dial (this is inaccurate); have the camera modified; purchase or build a battery adapter or use Zinc-Air cells. --Shadesofgrey 01:50, 14 October 2006 (EDT)

Redirected?

Why was this page redirected from "Mercury Cells," which is correct grammar and capitization, to "Mercury cells," which is not? It's like someone had the power to redirect it without the skills of the language it's written in. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 18:36, 26 July 2016 (CDT)

If you look at other wiki articles, you'll see that this is just the style we use. Where the name of the page is the name of a particular camera, it will have capitals just because that's what brand names are like (except in a handful of modern cameras with names which their maker writes in lower case, like the Fujifilm nexia Q1). For most other articles, only the first word has a capital; as in Film sizes and designations, Press camera, and Category:Camera designers. It has been that way since before we changed from Camerapedia to Camera-wiki. Our page Camera-wiki.org:Good practice specifies this style for article titles and section headings. For most style matters, that page refers us to Wikipedia's style guide, which gives the same heading style, so I guess that's where the style came from.
For our wiki, where a lot of the articles include a proper noun, this style has an advantage in cases like Francia (strut folding) where we have added clarifying words to a title: the same maker made other cameras also just named La Francia; by not capitalising 'strut folding', it's clear that this is just a description, not part of the camera's name. --Dustin McAmera (talk) 13:11, 28 July 2016 (CDT)
Just for clarity, this wasn't strictly a redirection; the page was 'moved' to the new title without a capital. --Dustin McAmera (talk) 13:16, 28 July 2016 (CDT)
So, since it was always done that way, even though it's incorrect grammar, we're going to continue doing it this way? Well, all right. Kenny HaarFager (talk) 22:22, 8 August 2016 (CDT)
