The Start 35 is a Bakelite viewfinder camera for making 24×24mm exposures on 35mm Bolta film rolls. It was made since 1950 by the Japanese Ikko Sha Co. Ltd. As well as black it came in a reddish color.[1] The original light brown box was marked "Start Junior Pen Camera".[2]

A new Start variant Start 35 K with hinged back door was introduced in 1952. A later variant, the Start 35 K-II (c.1958) had flash sync and metal top-plate and lens surround caps.

One other model was the Start-R.[3]
