The MVC-FD75 was the base model in the 2001 digital Mavica line from Sony, introduced alongside the higher-spec Mavica FD87, FD92, and FD97 [1]. It remained broadly similar to the earlier "7" Mavica models, the Mavica FD7, FD71 and FD73 in offering a minimal 640×480-pixel sensor resolution, but a handy 10x zoom giving a 35mm equivalent range of 40–400 mm. At the highest image quality settings, a maximum of 20 images could be saved in JPEG format to a standard 3.5" computer floppy disk.

Aside from cosmetics, it seems that the only change from the FD73 was an option for aperture- and shutter-priority autoexposure. As with the original FD7, the FD75 offered four in-camera "picture effects," namely Sepia, B&W, color negative, and "solarize."
