Fuji created a modification to the standard 42mm screw mount, adding a very small tab on the back of the aperture ring to engage with a lens mount housing lever, and thus communicate with the body's light meter and permit open-aperture metering. Fujinon lenses with this tab will '''not''' fit most other M42-mount camera bodies. For this reason, Auto Fujinon lenses are often found to have had this tab filed off.

The Fujica ST605 II was the last camera produced by Fuji that featured the M42 derived screw lens mount.

The ST605 II differed from the previous ST605n in a few key respects.

  • It has an ST901 style shutter release lock, and
  • an ST801/901 style lens lock (indicating an increased compatibility with Auto Fujinon lenses).
  • It also has a lens mount flange connection for Auto Fujinon open aperture metering lenses, and despite being commonly supplied with a Fujinon 55mm f/2.2 lens, which required stop-down metering, it could open aperture meter with Auto-Fujinon lenses.

The ST605 II was possibly only released to the Asian market, making it an uncommon model elsewhere.

Notes

Fuji created a modification to the standard 42mm screw mount, adding a very small tab on the back of the aperture ring to engage with a lens mount housing lever, and thus communicate with the body's light meter and permit open-aperture metering. Fujinon lenses with this tab will not fit most other M42-mount camera bodies. For this reason, Auto Fujinon lenses are often found to have had this tab filed off.
