Canon's TLb is a 35mm SLR with a focal plane shutter, introduced in 1976. Like the Canon TX, this was a budget model only for export to the Americas, based on Canon's FTb . However it lacked the QL film-loading aid, and had a maximum shutter speed of 1/500s in place of the FTb's 1/1000s. The TLb even eliminated the hot shoe flash sync connection included on the TX.
The TLb has TTL metering using a CdS cell, powered by a mercury battery.
