The 2000 Canon PowerShot S100 (Digital IXUS) was Canon's first "digital Elph", a tiny, stylish 2MP point and shoot with a sharp 35-70/2.8-4.0 (35mm equivalent) lens which uses Compact Flash storage cards. It took its "Elph" name and case styling from Canon's series of compact cameras using APS film.


At the time of its introduction, it was one of the smallest digital cameras available; and the successful series continued through numerous later models (the S200, S230, etc.)
