Revision as of 23:54, 28 November 2011

The Photosniper SLR-"guns" were made by KMZ. Maybe the conception behind these "shooters" was to give photographers who were gunmen a tool for shooting tele-exposures with a more quiet hand.

Photosniper FS-3

Produced 1965-69, supplied as complete kit housed in a steel container. Individual components were fastened to the container by screws and bolts Later versions the steel container was replaced by a canvas bag. Contents of the kit was :

  • The camera body
  • 58mm f2.0 Helios lens
  • 300mm f4.5 Tair lens
  • Two yellow filters 2x and 1.4x
  • UV filter
  • Orange filter
  • Green filter
  • Two cassette cases
  • Two screwdrivers
  • Lens Hood
  • Trigger assembly and strap
  • Shoulder Stock

The camera body was a standard Zenit SLR in this case an “E” modified with the addition of an extra release on the baseplate so that the shutter could be operated by the trigger. The Tair 300mm lens was also modified with a focus control knob installed on the base of the lens.

Photosniper FS-12

The Photosniper FS-12 rifle trigger operated SLR was delivered in a tin suitcase as a set with 58mm Helios lens and 300mm Tair tele lens. It is a Zenit 12S SLR body with M42 screw mount with a rifle stock that serves as a combination of shoulder/hands "tripod", with a trigger shutter release. The camera can be focused by means of the metal wheel in the front of the gun stock.
