In 1932 Kodak acquired the Nagel camera works of Stuttgart, Germany, including their existing camera lines. The former Nagel 18 precision 2¼×3¼ plate camera was renamed the Recomar 18. Production continued to 1940.

A larger version of this camera is the Kodak Recomar 33.
