As Alf Sigaro notes, the Ektar H3 is essentially a reborn Instamatic, but half-frame image by Alf Sigaro (Image rights) |
The Ektar H35 is a simple half-frame camera for 35mm film, made in 2022 by the Hong Kong company RETO, but under the Kodak brand. It is a simple camera with few controls. The body of the camera is mostly ABS plastic. It has a two-element 22mm f/9.5 lens, made from acrylic, and a single-speed (1/100 second) shutter. There is a small built-in flash, powered by a single AAA battery. This can be switched on or off with a ring at the front of the lens. That is the only exposure control the camera has.
Film is advanced with a thumb-wheel by the bottom edge of the back, positioned for the left thumb. Rewind is with a folding crank on the bottom of the camera.
The camera is made with black, sage green, tan ('sand') or darker brown leatherette covering just the front panel. It measures 110(W) x 62(H) x 39(D) mm and weighs about 100g. As of 2024, it can be seen priced between 40 and 60 Euro. It is supplied with a pouch case and strap.
