The C2 is a manual-focus 35mm SLR made by Cosina and using the popular K-mount bayonet for lens interchangeability. The camera offers a choice between manual match-LED exposure settings and aperture-priority autoexposure. In auto mode, the electronically-timed shutter offer speeds from 1/1000 sec down to 8 seconds. Flash sync is at 1/60th sec. (The similar-looking Cosina C1s has an all-mechanical shutter with a 1/2000 sec. top speed and flash sync at 1/125.) Pressing the transparent red button on the front of the camera activates a electronic self-timer delay of 10 seconds, with an indicator lamp whose flashing speed becomes more rapid in the final 2 seconds.

The features of the Cosina C2 strongly resemble those of the Cosina-manufactured Canon T60. Both the Voigtländer VSL 43 and a camera branded as the Phoenix P2 appear nearly identical, but with shutter speeds from 1/2 to 1/2000 sec.

The Cosina C1s is a close sibling of this model, but lacking the electronic shutter and auto-exposure of the C2
