The PowerShot A490 is a compact digital camera which was introduced by Canon in 2010, with a 10 megapixel CCD sensor giving images of up to 3648x2736 pixels. It is fitted with a 6.6-21.6mm f/3-5.8 (3.3x) zoom lens, 35mm equivalent 37-122mm. The display is a 115,000 dot, 2.5-inch type TFT color LCD. This camera replaced the Canon PowerShot A480.

Media storage is via Secure Digital, SDHC, MultiMediaCard, MMCplus or HC MMCplus flash memory cards. Power comes from two AA batteries, giving you approx. 150 shots.
