The Canon FD 50mm f/1.8 is the default "normal" lens on Canon FD systems. It has six glass elements in four groups. The example illustrated has the original FD mount, with a 'breechlock' (i.e a twist-ring to fasten the lens on). Four versions of the lens in this fitting are listed at the Canon Camera Museum,[1] and one in the bayonet New-FD fitting.[2]

More of them were sold than any other Canon FD lens (mostly with a camera).
