The faceplate and shutter assembly of this camera are clearly related to the Monarck cluster of brands (711 W. Lake Street). But Bernard Products wasn't just one of the "phantom" nameplates from Chicago. I have seen several ads and mentions of Bernard in post-WWII Popular Photography issues: One ad for their Faultess brand of tripod pan-head is on pg. 146 of the November 1946 issue (Vol. 19, No. 5) and gives a company address as 328 W. Ohio St., Chicago. (Google Maps link.) So Bernard may have simply been marketing a camera built by someone else, but they were an actual independent company.--Vox 07:10, 23 August 2011 (PDT)
