Nikon D5100

The Nikon D5100 is a mid-level consumer DSLR camera and was released in 2011 by Nikon. It replaces the Nikon D5000. It feature a 16.2 mega pixel DX format CMOS sensor and a AF sensor with 11 AF points. For D-movie mode; it has a 1080p video capability (at 24, 25 or 30fps), and uses the H.264/AVC codec.

The ISO has expanded to 100 - 6400. The form factor size has been reduced (128 x 97 x 79 mm) and much more compact. The reduced size also reduces the weight of the camera to aprox. 560g compared to 610g of the D5000. It has a 3" side hinged articulated LCD screen while the previous model had a bottom hinged 2.7" screen.
