Order of products

I don't like the suggestion of putting digital cameras first. In itself, I don't mind it at all; but it seems to imply that the content of each list, too, will be in reverse chronological order (like a US curriculum vitae, or the movie lists in imdb.com), and this I hate. -- Hoary 19:55, 24 August 2006 (EDT)

That's a good question. I advocate the normal chronological order within each list. But the order digital -> 35mm film -> 120 film is not strictly chronological, it can also be understood either of these ways:
  • increasing image support size (please don't ask me where to put the subminiatures and APS),
  • decreasing popularity of the image support (in terms of numbers of pictures taken today), the same logic that makes me put APS after 35mm, 127 film after 120, subminiature and plate film at the end.
We can choose the reverse because it most often reflects the evolution of the products (120 folders and TLRs, then 35mm, then digital), but some companies reverted from 35mm to medium format (see Mamiya and Fuji).
