Sony DSC-F828 Cyber-shot was announced by Sony in 2003. It is based on the previous years DSC-F717, but with new optics by Carl Zeiss. The lens is marked "Vario-Sonnar Carl Zeiss T*". It incorporates a four-color filter CCD technology.
The camera features a 8 mega pixel 2/3" CCD image sensor, with an F2.0 - F2.8 (7x), 28 - 200 mm equiv. optical zoom lens. The screen is a 1.8" 134,000 pixel TFT LCD and is provided along with an EVF. A pop-up flash is also integrated.
Images can be stored onto Memory Stick PRO media. It was unusual at the time but, Sony decided to offer compatibility with CompactFlash media, as well as Microdrive hard disk cards.
