In 2008 Sony reduced its line of APS-C format DSLRs to simpler models like the Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 and the 10.2 megapixel Sony Alpha DSLR-A300. Valuable elements like the second main function dial or the DOF check button were omitted to reduce production cost. The advantage of the A300 was its Live View modus to switch viewing subject thru optical SLR viewfinder to viewíng subject by means of the camera's backside color screen.
