The Pentax K-r is a modest 2010 revision to the successful Pentax K-x, employing the same 12-megapixel sensor manufactured by Sony. A significant change was a taller pentaprism hump, which offered enough space to allow illuminating the autofocus point selected by the camera.
The chrome trim band of the K-x was omitted; and the battery compartment either allows use of proprietary lithium batteries or an adapter to use conventional size-AA cells.
