The Minolta Autopak 400-X was one of Minolta's last cameras for Kodapak film cartridges. It was also a late camera model concerning the use of a selenium meter. The smart metering facility controls the aperture between f/8 and f/27 for better exposures.
Shutter speed automatically switches between 1/45 sec. for use with flash cubes and to 1/90 sec. for normal shooting.
The long shifting travel of the shutter release button serves a mechanical low-light warning system: The viewfinder image becomes red before exposure when the meter indicates insufficient light.
