Chicago photographic distributor Mansfield Industries sold two versions of the autoexposure Eye-Tronic camera, actually manufactured in Japan by Mamiya.
The simpler Eye-Tronic 35 was the scale focus model, a rebranding of the Mamiya EE Merit. The Eye-Tronic R was the rangefinder version, in reality the Mamiya EE Super Merit.
In 1962, around the time of these models, Mansfield bought the (much larger) Argus Camera company. After this, production of cameras at Argus's Ann Arbor, Michigan factory ceased; and a number of other Mamiya-built models were branded "Argus" for sale in the US.
