The Genba Kantoku (現場監督) (translated as Site supervisor) or referred to as Foreman or Work camera is a rugged 35mm film cameras released in Japan by Konica in 1988. It was also available as the Konica MS-40. It was replaced in 1993 with the New 現場監督 which has a 35mm lens.
It was primary designed for building construction workers. It is waterproof (JIS protection grade 4), dust, sand proof and anti-shock. The camera design is similar to the Konica MR.640 introduced months earlier, but with a larger reinforced exterior. It uses a 40mm f/3.5 auto focusing lens instead of a dual lens design. There are three large focusing sensors to the left of the lens, which has a minimum focusing distance of 0.9m. The shutter has speeds of 1/5 to 1/500 sec. The film loading and advance is automatic with a motor drive. There is a film counter on the LCD. Power is from 2CR5 battery.
Afterwards a whole series of similar rugged type cameras were released.
