The Kodak P850 is part of Kodak's new performance series which includes the P850 and P880. They were both Introduced in September 2005. The new series is marketed to be between a full DSLR and a compact camera. You can't change the lens on this camera but you can add both a wide lens and a telephoto lens by using an adaptor.

Software

The included software EasyShare 5.01 (updates to 5.2 Automatically) is quite good and works in both Windows and Macintosh.

If you want to run it on Linux (eg. Gentoo) you have to have a recent version that supports USB and then install gphoto2 and something like Digikam, Linux supports RAW editing too.
