The Jupiter 3 is an 50 mm f/1.5 lens made in the Soviet Union. It is based on the design of the Carl Zeiss Sonnar 50/1.5 which is a Ludwig Bertele design from 1932.
Initially this lens was called ZK (Sonnar Kransogorsk) and released in 1948, after rebuilding the Carl Zeiss factory. It changed the name to Jupiter -3 around 1950. While originally desinged for Contax/Kiev mount, it was adapted to Leica Thread Mount/Zorki, Leica M or M42 mounts
Several models exist, made by KMZ, ZOMZ or Valdai .
