Galter Products was a Chicago, USA company formed circa 1950[1] by Jack Galter, a successful Chicago businessman[2] and formerly president of Spartus. Almost all the models from this firm seem to be continuations of earlier Spartus cameras, which may even have often originated with Utility Manufacturing Company of New York. These included the Spartus Press Flash and different versions of the Falcon Miniature. The names Majestic, Pickwik and Regal were used on different models.[3] . Particulary notable are two "Hopalong Cassidy" camera models, very likey produced circa 1950 as a tie-in with the successful US television series.

Notes

  1. The date 1950 is from McKeown, but "Galter Products" may have existed in parallel to Spartus for some time before this. More information is needed.
  2. 1993 obituary of Jack Galter from The Chicago Tribune.
  3. McKeown, James M. and Joan C. McKeown's Price Guide to Antique and Classic Cameras, 12th Edition, 2005-2006. USA, Centennial Photo Service, 2004. ISBN 0-931838-40-1 (hardcover). ISBN 0-931838-41-X (softcover). Pages 335-336.
