Unlike many of the Dacora Dignette models which had false, simulated rangefinder windows on their fronts, the Dignette E-M actually had a functioning one. This can be recognized by the small roughly square rangefinder window, rather than one appearing as a vertical diamond.

The designation E-M refers to the German word Entfernungsmesser (for rangefinder). The working rangefinder is also shared with the Super Dignette E-B (a model which adds a light meter, too.)
