Cosmicar is a lens brand used beginning in 1961[1] by Asahi Precision Co., Ltd., and is mainly associated with CCTV and other industrial lenses.

A small number of Cosmicar 35mm SLR lenses were offered in Pentax K mount as a lower-cost alternative to Pentax's own versions, later rebranded "Takumar". A discreet "Cosmicar" engraving is also seen on the barrel of a few lenses marketed as CPC Phase 2, and perhaps others.

CCTV lenses after 1993[1] added the name Pentax, the more familiar brand from the company's corporate parent, Pentax Corporation; and the Cosmicar name was eventually dropped. Branding changed in the aftermath of the 2011 merger of Pentax with Ricoh, and more recent "machine vision" lenses carry the Ricoh name instead.[2]
