After some earlier years as a lens-maker, Cosina launched their first complete camera, the Cosina Instant Matic (also badged N-284) in 1966.[1] This was a scale focus model for 126 film cartridges, with a 40mm f/2.8 Cosinon lens, but already offering autoexposure. There is a provision for flashcubes.

It's a rarely-seen camera, and certainly could not have been offered for sale in the USA without running into trademark problems with Kodak over a name so similar to "Instamatic."

Notes

  1. As noted on a Cosina company history page, from their "Reasons behind the choices Cosina makes" pages.
