The Canon PowerShot G5 is apart of Canon's successful G series of "enthusiast" model digital cameras that begun with the PowerShot G1. It was introduced in June 2003, a half year after the PowerShot G3. There was no model "G4".
It uses a 5 megapixel 1/1.8" sized sensor, producing a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944. The lens is a 4x zoom with 7.2mm to 28.8mm f/2-3, at a 35mm equivalent of 35 to 140mm. The body design is very similar to the previous G3 model and has a optical viewfinder and a swivelling 118,000 pixel, 1.8" color LCD display. Images are stored on CompactFlash Type I or II cards and is also compatible with Microdrive. A 32MB flash card is usually bundled with the camera. A IR remote control is available, which can control zoom, firing the shutter release and controlling playback when connected to a television. It is powered by a 7.4v lithium rechargeable battery.
