The Canon IXUS L-1 is a compact APS camera, introduced by Canon in September 1997; one of the simpler IXUS APS cameras, but well built and with a good, solid feel. It has a collapsible, fixed length 26mm f2.8 lens (35mm equivalent of a fairly wide 33mm). The IXUS L-1 name was used in Europe; in America, it was called the ELPH Jr, and in Japan, IXY 310. It was available in silver or black finish.
The body has very small rubber buttons to control the flash, set the date & title, rewind the film and set the self-timer; the settings are shown on an LCD panel in the top. There is the usual APS P/H/C format switch, on the back beside the viewfinder eyepiece. Also beside the viewfinder, opposite the format switch, are LEDs indicating focus and flash ready.
