The EOS 50 is a 35mm autofocus SLR introduced by Canon in 1995. An Eye Control focusing version is also available called EOS 50E. This model was succeeded by the EOS 30 in 2000.
In the Americas it is called EOS ELAN II while the Eye control version are called EOS Elan IIE. The Japanese version is called EOS 55 and was also available in black as well as two tone.
The shutter is a electronic vertical-travel, focal-plane with speeds of 30 sec. to 1/4000 sec., B. and X-sync at 1/125 sec.
The Eye Control focusing has improved over the first generation. It now has the ability to be rotated and function in portrait mode as well.
