The Digital IXUS 500 is a ultra compat digital camera released by Canon in 2004. It was also sold as the Digital IXY 500 in Japan and as the PowerShot S500 Digital ELPH in North America.

It uses a 5 megapixel 1/1.8" sized CCD sensor. Photos are captured in 2,592 x 1,944 pixels. The zoom lens is 3x 7.4 – 22.2mm (36-108mm) with an aperture of f/2.8-f/4.9. The LCD screen is a 118,000 dot 1.5" color LCD screen. There is a flash range of up to 11 feet. An optical finder is also available. Power is from with rechargeable LiIon NB-1LH / NB-1L batteries. Photos are stored on CompactFlash cards.
