When it appeared in 2010 the Canon Digital IXUS 1000 HS was the slimmest so-called "super-zoom camera" of Canon. HS means high sensitivity. It is also know as Digital ELPH SD4500 IS in the US and IXY 50S in Japan.

The 10 Megapixel CMOS image sensor together with the Digic-4 image processor makes an emulated film speed ISO 3200 possible for 10 MP images. It's also possible to make high-definition 1.920×1.080 Pixel video films. It has a 3 inch color display, and - no joke - a face-detection system that allows shutter release action triggered by smile :-)))
