Baby Hawkeye image by Dave Dockerill (Image rights) |
The Baby Hawkeye is a box camera for 4x6.5 cm pictures on 127 film, made by Kodak in London from about 1936.[1] It has a single speed 'flip-flop' shutter and fixed aperture single element lens. It has a pull-out wire frame viewfinder, with only a front frame; there is no eyepiece. The camera pictured is the de-luxe version, with strap lugs. It was a promotional camera and usually given away.
Kodak made a very similar camera, the Hawkeye Ace (and Hawkeye Ace Deluxe), from about 1938. These differ only in having a leatherette-covered front instead of the Baby's metal front.
