Welcome

Hello,

Thank you for the changes you made to the Leicaflex page: the quality of the article was greatly improved. Today I added some footnotes to sustain some of the article's claims, such as the allotted serial numbers. Could you please point me to a source for Leica losing money on each SL2 produced? I read this as a rumour in some forum posts but couldn't find a trusted source.

I also added a word of the Leicaflex SL sold to the NASA, but the only picture I could find was a bad one in a Japanese site [1]. Do you know more about these?

Hello,

Sorry it took me so long to reply - I'm a pretty infrequent visitor.

A reference to the fact that the SL2 cost more to produce than its ex-works price can be found in Dennis Laney's Leica Collector's Guide (first edition, p. 104). Not sure where he got that information, however, and there's no mention of exactly how much Leitz lost on each.

As for the NASA SL, there's a picture of an SL Mot with a beefed up shutter speed selector dial on page 107 of the same book (probably the same camera, but a better photo), but apart from that I know nothing about it. I'm pretty sure it didn't go to space though - they seem to have used Hasselblads and Nikons on space flights for the most part.
