I have searched for information on Nikon Speedlights, especially the SB-700, SB-900, SB-910. I found the pre-flash of my SB-700 very annoying, when shooting candids. People would keep moving during the delay, or close their eyes, etc. I had only had the flash for a few days, when it suddenly started pre-flashing, which it did not do in the first few times I used it. No one on-line has listed the easiest way to eliminate the pre-flash. It turns out that the flash will behave normally if the camera is on "Auto", but will pre-flash on other settings, like "P". Most of us shun the "Auto" setting, but sometimes it can be handy!
