Underground Camera, Inc. was the name of a small chain of photography stores centered in New England, USA,[1] operated by the Katz family. The company ran into trouble after overextending, and closed at the end of the 1980s.[2] While the name sounds like a 1960s counterculture reference, in fact the company was founded in 1957 in Massachusetts.
The Underground name[3] was also used as its house brand on a line of rebadged imported lenses and accessories—sometimes just appearing as "UGC."
