Translation advice

The ad says "カメラ及び付属品一式　製造却小売　メーカー直接・有名デパート納入店", and I find this a bit cryptic, especially 製造却小売. --Rebollo fr 04:26, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

My resident native informant is puzzled by 製造, which she thinks is meaningless, but reckons that Endō is saying something like: Lots of cameras and accessories — wholesale and retail — direct from the makers, and in famous department stores. -- Hoary 09:41, 3 August 2006 (EDT)

Thanks. I hadn't thought that 一式 was a word in its own right, meaning 'a set'. Also there is a typo is the ad, with 却 instead of 卸. Manifestly your native informant corrected the typo without noticing it because it seems so obvious that it can only be the latter, while my not-fully-kanji-connected self looked in the dictionary and did not find sense. 製造 (= 'manufacture') is perhaps the key word: does it imply that the company _makes_ and sells in wholesale and retail (製造+卸小売), or that it sells manufactured products (製造品の卸小売). --Rebollo fr 05:11, 7 August 2006 (EDT)
