Re revision of 21:03, 1 October 2009:
Minolta made the glasses for their lens manufacturing themselves from raw materials like sand and rare minerals. Making the lens blanks or "glass elements" is what most lens manufacturers do. Removing and substituting that information degrades the content of the article. This fact has now been restored, and hopefully made clearer.
Also, the summary of the same revision only states links, which does not truthfully reflect the extent of the revision.
