Vivitar?

The article says:

The lenses were made by different makers, including apparently Vivitar and Tokina.

Is this true? I hadn't been aware that Vivitar made lenses. Certainly this page (from 2007) conspicuously omits any mention of manufacturing. Zuleika 04:50, 8 April 2011 (PDT)

Well, I was suggested by the fact that Caspeco branded lenses are often attributed to Vivitar. Were they all made by Tokina?

I'd first ask who attributes the lenses to Vivitar, and what they give as their sources of knowledge. There's an awful lot of recycled hearsay in writing about lens manufacture. Vivitar is commonly (although not necessarily accurately) described as a company selling other company's lenses. True, the Wikipedia article on it starts by saying "Vivitar Corporation was a manufacturer, distributor and marketer of photographic and optical equipment originally based in Oxnard, California" (my emphasis), but goes on to say nothing that would back up this assertion.
I've no idea who made Caspeco lenses, sorry. (Indeed, I'd never heard of Caspeco lenses until today.) Zuleika 05:38, 8 April 2011 (PDT)
So I got rid of the Vivitar attribution - Tokina seems to be a confirmed maker of the Caspeco lenses anyway. Grzesio 14:59, 8 April 2011 (CET)
OK. Better to be uninformative than to risk misinforming. Perhaps we'll later find more about Caspeco lenses. Zuleika 06:13, 8 April 2011 (PDT)
