Looks like a hot shoe!

I am curious about this. On a picture published here by Ritzcam of an Argoflex EF they have for sale, it looks like there is indeed some primitive sort of hot shoe. --Rebollo fr 05:47, 6 June 2006 (EDT)

  • It's an early hot shoe with a raised contact and very narrow spaces for the flanges of the flash mounting. In any event, a modern flash will not fit. Livestockgeorge (talk) 08:12, 20 May 2018 (CDT)

PC Port and/or lack of same

So I wrote a lot of the current article using my EF as reference (not, in fact, the one pictured in the article). I wrote that there was a "pseudo-PC" sync port on the shutter body which cannot accept a real PC cable. On my camera this port has a square outer contact with a small hole in it, too small to accept the sleeve contact of a PC cable.

However, on the example pictured and on some other EF's I saw online while researching for the article, the port is round and appears to be a true PC port. I can't tell. Can someone confirm that this is the case?

As an aside, there do appear to be some other variations in this camera. The version Mike Eckman has on his blog has a textured black ring behind the aperture-control ring (which is where the port is located), where mine has silver metal. At any rate, I'd love to add more pictures. I don't have a good digital camera or I'd upload some of mine (showing finder, loupe, closeup of the weird hot shoe, and leather case). Does anyone else have this camera and want to upload? If not I'll see what quality images I can get with my iphone at some point. Livestockgeorge (talk) 08:12, 20 May 2018 (CDT)
