Stereo-Pochette
The Stereo-Pochette is a stereo plate camera made by Lucien Joux & Compagnie of Paris in about 1898. It was made in two sizes, for 4.5×10.7 cm or 6×13 cm plates[1] (an advertisement in Photo-Gazette of 1900 only mentions the larger size).[2] It has a folding bed, on which the lens standard pulls out at the front of a bellows. The body is wooden, and the front standard and other fittings are brass, or nickel plated.[3]
Focusing is by means of a knob in the centre of the front of the bed, with a scale on the bed; a ground-glass screen could also be used. There is front rise.
There is a spirit level on top of the camera. It has a folding Newton finder mounted on the lens standard. The example sold at Westlicht has a brass carrying handle on the top;[3] this is not illustrated in the 1900 advertisement shown at Collection d'Appareils.[2]
As shown in the above-mentioned advertisement, Joux made two similar cameras; one was a version of the Stereo-Pochette in which the lens board can be slid to the side, centring one lens for panoramic photographs, still on 6×13 plates;[2] the other, the Photo-Pochette is a one-lens model for 9×12 cm plates.
