The Peco Junior is a monorail camera made by Plaubel from around 1958. It is largely made from aluminium. The front and rear standards are mounted on a wide, flat bar, with the 'rail' formed by two angled slots machined in it and the rack running along the top. The camera was made in two sizes:

  • for 6.5x9cm plates, 6x9cm (2¼x3¼-in) roll film, or even 35mm roll-film back
  • for 9x12cm, 10x15cm or 4x5-in plates (or reducing back for smaller sizes)

Notes at Historic Camera state that the smaller camera was introduced in 1958, and the larger one only in 1960.[1] A brochure from around 1960 shows the smaller camera with a simplified set of camera movements, with only linear movements (rise/fall and shift) on the front standard, and only tilt (about the bottom of the standard) and swing on the rear, while the larger model has both standards in conventional yokes, so has on-axis tilt and swing on both front and rear.[2] Another brochure (or short manual) of uncertain date but presumably later, shows only the smaller model of the camera,[3] and this is the more commonly seen camera. It seems likely that the 9x12cm camera was discontinued, at least under the Junior name.

Certainly, the specifications of the camera were changed, the later 6.5x9cm camera allowing more of most movements:

The camera has a reversing back (that is, the rear plate, to which the film or plate holder attaches, can be oriented for horizontal or vertical pictures by detaching it). Examples are seen with either black or red bellows. A wide-angle bag bellows was made for the camera.
